Steamboat Over A Billion A Year

The real estate news from Steamboat Springs reflects that from other resort areas of the West. The town has established a new one-year record for real estate sales volume. Year to date through October, Routt County had booked $1.39 billion in real estate sales. The county had never gone above $1 billion until last year.  The Steamboat newspaper notes this volume was achieved despite fewer sales. But there is sharp appreciation, with much of the sales action now in the range between $1 million and $1.5 million.

The impact of Steamboat ski resorts recent buyout at the hands of giant Intrawest appears pretty obvious. The place will never be the same.
